Tim Black, Founder & Vice President/Shareholder

Tim Black opened Black Roofing in June of 1975. Although he no longer participates in the day-to-day operations of the business, Tim’s 40+ years of experience in the roofing industry is reflected through the present culture of the company. Tim is known for his leadership and accountability in the roofing industry as well as through the employees he has taught and mentored along the way. Black Roofing & Waterproofing is a worthy example of his work ethic, commitment to his team of people and the quality he delivered in the industry. He is still active in both the Colorado Roofing Association and National Roofing Contractor Association. As a home town Boulder boy, he is still active in the community as well.


Jason Pryor, President/Shareholder

Jason began his career in the waterproofing industry in 2000 holding several positions such as Applicator, Estimator, Superintendent, Project Manager and Vice President. He joined Black Roofing & Waterproofing in 2015 to manage the commercial waterproofing division and provide experience in air barriers, joint sealants, injections, coatings, expansion joints, pavers, green roofs, and all designs of commercial waterproofing systems. Over the years, Jason has built relationships in the Colorado construction industry with general contractors, architects, engineers, consultants, developers, building owners and manufacturer representatives. His experience, reputation and knowledge are well known throughout the industry. As the President and the majority shareholder of Black Roofing & Waterproofing, his competence propels the companies’ goals and strategies and presides over the entire workforce. He oversees budgets and ensures resources are properly allocated ensuring all departments meet individual goals. Jason takes responsibility and makes himself accountable to all the shareholders and the public the company serves.

Alan Nedelea, Vice President / Division Manager for Flat Roofing & Sheet Metal / Shareholder

Alan started at Black Roofing & Waterproofing in 1991. He was as a young laborer working on a hot asphalt roofing crew.  Alan soon became the youngest foreman at Black Roofing & Waterproofing running 10–12-man crews, installing large low slope, new construction and reroof projects. His initiative did not stop there, Alan desired to learn more complicated, creative designs and roof repairs, so he asked to work in the service department to have more involvement with property managers and homeowners. He learned to locate, design, correct and repair ongoing leak issues. In 2000, Alan became a superintendent supervising multiple roofing crews daily, delivering complex roof designs, material handling, controlling production, scheduling, manpower and customer service on multiple job sites. In 2008, Alan hesitated to start in sales at Black Roofing & Waterproofing as the economy was in a downturn. However, as a competitive, growth-oriented and people-focused person, Alan proved to be more than suited for roofing sales. He continues to add value to the company by constantly pursuing new ideas, estimating, working with manufacturers, vendors, local code agencies and other industry resources to stay informed of new methods. Now, as the Division Manager of the Commercial Flat Roofing department and Architectural Sheet Metal Alan, provides a level of leadership and a vision for growth within Black Roofing & Waterproofing. He supports all the managers within the departments with the authority needed to carry out their assigned duties and achieve established goals. Overseeing profit and loss responsibility, safety, development, operations, resource management, growth, teamwork, and the culture within the workplace Alan will endorse success for Black Roofing & Waterproofing for years to come.


Jim Aguirre Commercial Estimator / Project Manager

Jim was introduced to roofing while in high school. He came to Black Roofing & Waterproofing in 2021 with well over a decade of experience as a Commercial Estimator and Project Manager of various types of commercial flat roofing, sheet metal roofing and wall panels. He is consistently successful with his projects working attentively with general contractors and architects.  We are excited for him to be part of the BRW team,


Jonathon Harrington, Project Engineer / Flat Roofing & Waterproofing

Jonathon joined Black Roofing & Waterproofing in 2020.  Jonathon began in the roofing industry as a Commercial Sheet Metal Installer and has subsequently earned a degree in Construction Management from Minnesota State University, Mankato.  Black Roofing & Waterproofing utilizes Jonathon as a Project Engineer for his expert technical and mathematical skills in the Flat Roofing and Metal Roofing divisions. His expertise and strong attention to detail with skills in customer service and communication are major tools for the estimating team at Black Roofing & Waterproofing.


Diego Cardona, Superintendent / Flat Roofing

Diego joined Black Roofing & Waterproofing in 2019. As a superintendent, Diego’s leadership and strategic thinking are what make him a successful superintendent on roofing jobs. He monitors projects from planning to completion, including tasks such as budgeting and scheduling. Diego’s quality standards and experience ensure the safety and security of the crew and the construction site making him a vital team member of of Black Roofing & Waterproofing.

Adam Fernstedt, Commercial Estimator and Service Department Manager

Adam joined Black Roofing & Waterproofing in 2014 as a delivery driver and was swiftly promoted into the Operations Manager role.  He spent five years overseeing the daily operations of the company to guarantee the safe and efficient use of materials and company equipment which aided in overall project completion.  In 2019, a Commercial Reroof Estimator position opened up and Black Roofing & Waterproofing could not think of anyone more eligible for the job.  As an estimator, Adam spent 2 years generating reroofing business specializing in low-sloped style roofs. In 2021, he was promoted to the Service Department Manager where he oversees the complex daily needs of our service department to include customer service, repairs, maintenance, and Commercial and Residential low slope re-roofing while still estimating commercial reroofing projects.


Joseph Yackamovitch, Project Manager

Joseph is from Philadelphia, PA and began as a roofing installer at 18 years old. This prepared him with hands-on roofing experience and knowledge since 2007. Joseph joined Black Roofing & Waterproofing as a foreman in 2017 and quickly proved himself to be a capable leader, which lead to his promotion to project management. Having more than one role on Black Roofing & Waterproofing’s team provides him with a unique understanding of the company’s standards and practices. Joseph delivers excellent customer service and follows up with strict guidelines and expectations with the installers he manages. Services he provides for are low slope, steep slope, sheet metal, gutters, service and solar for residential and commercial projects.


Todd Trehey, Project Manager

Todd began his roofing career as a general laborer and shingle applicator in 1988. He has been a part of the Black Roofing & Waterproofing Residential Shingle department since 2021. Todd brings Black Roofing & Waterproofing a great deal of experience on all types and phases of roofing, including but not limited to asphalt shingles, tile, TPO, Modified, EPDM. His ability to troubleshoot effectively and then explain issues clearly proves valuable with our customers.


Gabor Nemeth, Project Manager

Gabor joined Black Roofing & Waterproofing in August of 2019 as a Residential Shingle Superintendent. His years of residential and commercial roofing experience have proven valuable to the team. Gabor was born in Budapest, Hungary, and moved to Colorado at the age of 6 with his parents and older brother. He was taught to have a great work ethic from his parents and due to this, he has brought a distinguished personality, notable customer service skill set, and “go get ’em” attitude, to the Black Roofing & Waterproofing team.


Michael Cichon, Superintendent / Residential Roofing

Mike joined Black Roofing & Waterproofing in 2016. His 30 years of experience in roofing proves valuable as a Steep Slope Superintendent. He is an expert in roofing mechanics, stopping leaks and his attention to detail offers our customers high level service. He is also knowledgeable in sheet metal fabrication, installation. Mike stays strong by doing the job right the first time and makes it his goal that each client is completely satisfied once the project is done.


Deb Martinez, Service & Steep Slope Coordinator

Deb joined Black Roofing & Waterproofing in January of 2023. She is new to the construction industry; however, has worked in the customer service industry since she rejoined the workforce, after 12 years as a stay-at-home Mom. Deb’s experience in customer service and her team player attitude make a perfect addition to the Service Department. She works closely with our Service crew daily to deliver exceptional service to all customers in need of roofing repairs.

Scot Hanson, Project Manager / Architectural Metal / Shareholder

Scot has been in the roofing industry since 1991. He began working at Black Roofing & Waterproofing in 2002 as a foreman. He impressed everyone with his work ethic and talent with metal roofing systems and quickly became a superintendent on multiple projects. Scot proved to be a valued superintendent for many years and now is the principal expert and creative strength in the Architectural Metal Division at Black Roofing & Waterproofing. Scot generates expertise in all facets of Architectural Sheet Metal including metal roof systems, metal wall panels, custom patina metal panels and custom-designed fascia. Scot prides himself in the detail and the commitment he provides each customer until the job is complete and to their full satisfaction.

James “JJ” Hellman, Division Manager for Waterproofing

JJ joined Black Roofing & Waterproofing in 2022, contributing his experience in both small and large projects which include Denver International Airport, local high rise hospital projects, and a multitude of multi-family projects. He has expertise in pre-applied & post-applied membranes, thermal insulation including spray foam, hot fluid-Applied waterproofing, traffic and pedestrian coatings, grout injection, cementitious waterproofing, air barriers, expansion joints, pavers, green roofs, joint sealants, and all commercial & residential waterproofing systems. JJ is very relationship driven and insists on a high level of customer service, teamwork, quality construction practices, combined with a rigorous safety program, to ensure a successful project.


Dylan McLaughlin, Project Manager/Waterproofing

Dylan joined Black Roofing & Waterproofing in 2014. He has been estimating and project managing commercial waterproofing projects in the Colorado Market since 2003.  His expertise lies in budgeting projects from conceptual phase on and managing landed projects through substantial completion.   Projects of record include Dick’s Sporting Goods Park, Colorado Springs Memorial Hospital, 1800 Larimer, Denver Justice Center and Courthouse, CU Biotech, 300 17th Street Renovation, Speer and Bannock, Chase Bank Data Centers, CU Case, 5050 Syracuse, and Boulder Country Club Remodel.


Paul Poletti, Project Manager / Waterproofing

Paul joined Black Roofing & Waterproofing in 2022. He started his construction career in 1990 as a field laborer and then graduated from Colorado State University with a degree in Construction Management. He has gained expertise in construction management for over 30 years working in project management, estimating, office management, and leadership roles in the waterproofing industry. He is responsible for generating, estimating, and coordinating multiple large commercial waterproofing projects. Paul is highly trained and certified with all major manufacturers and suppliers and works with contractors and architects from design to completion, assuring a successful project. Notable projects include, Ralph L. Carr Judicial Center, CSU Stadium, Boulder Community Hospital, Mile High Stadium, One Riverfront Park, SCL Health Replacement Hospital, 633 17th Street Plaza Replacement, and Block 176.


Steve Vero, Superintendent

Steve started his waterproofing career in 2010. He brought his expert knowledge and dedicated work ethic to Black Roofing & Waterproofing in 2017.  Starting as a foreman in the waterproofing division, Steve proved his abilities and quickly was promoted to a Superintendent role where he manages, and budgets commercial waterproofing construction projects. His knowledge of waterproofing applications is notable and valued by contractors and within the waterproofing division.


Aaron Raymond, Superintendent

Aaron started his waterproofing career with Black Roofing & Waterproofing in 2017. Shortly after being hired, he was running spray applied jobs, steadily working his way up to a foreman position in 2019. Aaron enjoys the challenge of troubleshooting problems as they come up and working steadily to complete a job accurately.  He is a firm believer that communication is key when it comes to the success of a job. Aaron was promoted to Superintendent for the waterproofing department in 2021. His proficient work practices, skills and drive are a true strength for Black Roofing & Waterproofing.


Tzveta Ivanova, Senior Project Coordinator Roofing and Waterproofing

Tzveta has been in the waterproofing industry since 2001.  She found her love for the construction industry back in 2000 and joined the Black Roofing & Waterproofing team in May of 2016.  She is crucial to all roofing and waterproofing projects that Black Roofing & Waterproofing attains. Her experience with managing communication among project team members and general contractors to ensure proper coordination between the different departments cannot be substituted. Tzveta delivers project directives very timely. Her support includes, but is not limited to, all processes through bid and submittal preparation, LEEDS documentation, contract administration, accounting and job closeout.


Jamie Schoepflin, Project Coordinator

Jamie joined Black Roofing in 2020. Originally from the East Coast, now a Colorado resident. Jamie started as the receptionist, but as she took on more responsibilities she moved up to office/payroll/ap assistant, doing payroll, AP entry, office management. At the end of 2022 Jamie was promoted to a project coordinator position in the waterproofing department. She assists with bid and submittal preparation, contract administration, job closeout, the subcontractor program and certified payroll.

Jason Case, Division Manager for Residential Drains

Jason joined Black Roofing & Waterproofing in 2021. He brought his expert experience with residential drain applications to start a new division for Black Roofing & Waterproofing. Has been managing and coordinating residential waterproofing projects and crews for over 17 years. This includes many custom drainage projects and complicated designs to keep water away from a home. The expanded opportunity Black Roofing & Waterproofing offers with residential drains increased our ability to serve the residential customer.


Letitia Dickerson, Project Coordinator

Letitia joined the Black Roofing Team in 2018 as a receptionist. She was quickly promoted to Assistant Project Coordinator in the Service and Steep Slope Department coordinating with the Project Managers from job set up to job completion, with the final steps of preparing & issuing a warranty packet to our customers. In September of 2021, Black Roofing started their new Residential Drain Department, and she was promoted to the RD Project Coordinator working to develop the new department. In January 2023, Letitia’s role shifted as Project Coordinator to include both the Residential Drain and Steep Slope Divisions.

Jocelyn Kindred, Controller

Jocelyn joined Black Roofing & Waterproofing in 2022 as the Controller. She earned her Bachelor of Science degree in Accounting with a minor in Entrepreneurship from Ball State University. Jocelyn began her career in public accounting with a specialization in construction before joining the private construction sector in 2020. She oversees the Company’s day-to-day transactions and helps guide financial decisions based on established budgets and financial reporting. She is passionate about construction accounting and is always looking for best practices and procedures to gain efficiency.


Kim Pryor, Business Support Manager

Kim joined Black Roofing & Waterproofing in 2020. As the Business Support Manager, she is responsible for day-to-day oversight of business operations. With a Bachelor’s of Science in Business Management and her experience working for General Contractors, Kim has comprehensive knowledge of the business operations and the duties of the employees needed at Black Roofing & Waterproofing. Her role as business support manager allows her a thoughtful understanding of the nature of Black Roofing & Waterproofing and how best to provide the needed support to all employees and the business overall.


David Weingardt, Operations Manager

Dave joined Black Roofing & Waterproofing in 2021 as the Operations Manager. He has an associate degree in Gasoline and Diesel Mechanics Applied Science. Dave began working in the construction industry in 2015 as a superintendent on commercial waterproofing projects moving on the estimating residential projects. By overseeing operations at BRW such as, ordering material, product handling, storage requirements, processes for receiving product, equipment utilization and inventory management Dave is valuable to Black Roofing & Waterproofing not just for a safe workplace but one with quality control, improved productivity, and efficiency.


Dave Cook, Metal Shop Technician

Dave Cook is Black Roofing & Waterproofing’s in-house metal fabricator. He joined the team in 2009. He is an expert in design metal and practices different fabrication techniques. The most common ones are cutting and machining, punching, and drilling, straightening, bending and rolling, fitting and reaming.  His experienced craftsmanship ensures a reliable product which meets quality control standards for the customers we contract with for metal roofing.


Gunnar Weingardt, Office Administrator

Gunnar joined Black Roofing & Waterproofing in 2023. A Native to Colorado, he is the first point of contact as the front desk. He assists with duties such as accounts receivable, accounts payable, and answering phone calls. He greets all Black Roofing & Waterproofing clients and employees with a smile and helps wherever he can.
